The juice is easy to deteriorate if it is not stored correctly. It not only involves the barrier performance of the material itself, but also involves the acid and alkali content of the juice itself, the sterilization method, the filling method and the processing method of the bag and so on. For example, the juice is sterilized in two different ways, whether the juice is pasteurized first and then heat-filled, or whether the juice is filled first and then pasteurized, which will have different requirements for the bag and therefore different costs. We would suggest that brands need to check with packaging experts before designing the material structure, and let them also check together whether the material is reasonable.

For the material structure, the thicker the material is, the better the physical and chemical properties will be of the packaging bag. According to the different volumes of juice packaging, there are generally the following structures of packaging materials.

 

①     100ml ~ 200ml: BOPP / PE or PET / PE is the lowest cost packaging bag structure, without considering the transport and shelf life, this material can withstand the small grams of juice packaging. BOPP is softer than PET, so if the bag is a stand-up pouch case, PET is usually chosen as the outermost layer.

②    200ml+: Most brands have very high anti-breaking requirements for packaging, so they will require to laminate nylon and AL as the barrier layer. For juice packaging bags above 500ml, we suggest that it is best to choose NY/PE, which can ensure the safety and hygiene of the product during transportation. Some customers do not require much of physical properties of the packaging, but also want to reduce costs, in this case some customers choose PET/AL/PET/PE, but the strength of this structure is certainly not as strong as PET/AL/PA/PE: this material is the best which can reduce the risk of breaking the bag.

 

*For the shelf life, the bag laminated with VMPET can reach a shelf life of about 6 months, while aluminum is one year.
