What is Vacuum Metallizing Process
Vacuum metallizing is the process of heating and melting aluminum metal in vacuum until it evaporates, and aluminum atoms are condensed on the surface of polymer materials, resulting in an extremely thin aluminum layer. Vacuum metallizing requires the substrate surface to be smooth, flat and of uniform thickness，and its stiffness and friction coefficient to be appropriate. Also, the thermal performance should be good to withstand the heat radiation and condensation heat of the evaporation source. As well as substrate moisture content of less than 0.1%, etc. The commonly used aluminized substrates are PET, PP, PA, PE and other films.
The metallizing process allows the vapor deposition of aluminum to accumulate on the surface of the plastic film, resulting in a metallic surface gloss as well as better barrier properties. Since aluminized film has the characteristics of both plastic film and metal, it is a cheap and beautiful packaging material with excellent performance and high functionality.
